Hi, my name is Heidi Young. I have been on a weight loss journey most of my life. It has always been a struggle until I found Holly and the macros way of living. I have lost over 50 lbs in 10 months with Holly and am enjoying great food.
I have always loved to cook and I used to hate exercise! About 4 years ago, I discovered I had a health issue. I had surgery to correct the issue and when I came out of surgery, I was full of energy. However, I was over 100 pounds overweight. I began to move and sweat for the first time at 48 years old. I loved it and could not get enough. I felt less stress, more energy and was loving life again.
I began a diet that my physician recommended. It was horrible and tasteless! This diet also caused some very unpleasant side effects. The food was prepackaged and took away what I loved to do—cook. I decided that I needed to change things up. I started a new exercise regimen that I fell in love with and started the paleo diet. I regained some health and the side effects of that miserable diet went away, but my weight was coming back. My strength was awesome, but my performance was lousy. I was slow and sluggish. I stayed on the paleo diet for the health benefits and started cutting back on food. I was literally “hangry” all the time and still gaining weight. I went to the doctor to discover, from past health issues, that my kidneys were failing. In fact, I was close to dialysis.
That is when a friend suggested Holly. I was very skeptical at first, as she was having me eat so much food. Holly encouraged me to trust her and I am so happy I did. I am now down over 50 pounds, countless inches and my performance is awesome.
I never lost my love of cooking but had to adjust my ingredients. My favorite thing is to take a food that has too much fat or too many carbs and switch it up to make it healthier. The wonderful thing about macros is that you can eat whatever you want so long as it fits your macros. The only problem is that some of my favorite foods would use up nearly all my macros. I have learned to make my own favorite foods to fit my macros and would love to share my tips and recipes in my cooking classes. I'm so excited to a part of Team Summit.
